Limerick and Ferguson Forests

Limerick forest is a short drive from Oxford Station, Ontario, and Ferguson forest is nearby in Kemptville. I've been to Limerick forest many times and it's a favourite location, but this was my first visit to Ferguson forest. Some friends and I decided to visit the first in the morning and the other in the afternoon. I'm especially fond of Limerick forest because it has a variety of trails and different things to photograph, but the same can be said of Ferguson forest (although we only did one trail along the river). The light when we arrived at Ferguson forest was especially good, being afternoon and there were shafts of light coming through the forest canopy. We also found an interesting variety of native Clematis which I had never seen before and was very photogenic.

Mushrooms are flowers of the forest. This particular one, while past it's prime, had a nice golden glow.

This tree was illuminated by a shaft of light that highlighted it's reddish bark against the green of the forest and the blue of the sky.

This native variety of clemantis was growing in profusion along the trail.

Leaves are favourite photography subjects, especially when they have droplets on them.

This creeper reminded me of a garland and seemed to decorate this tolerant tree.
