Britannia Yacht Club

The Ottawa River provides a wealth of recreational activities, including sailing, and there are several locations where boats can be moored. I visited one of these locations on this short outing - the Britannia Yacht Club. There wasn’t much wind on the day that I visited and as a result, there were only a few sailboats out on the water. I was told that there are often races, but not it appears on the day that I was there. So while I took a few shots of boats out on the river, most of my attention was focused elsewhere. In particular, there were several boats in need of repair in one portion of the grounds, and these provided ample opportunity to look for interesting abstracts.

Reflections are fascinating, whether the medium is water, glass, or ice. Here, I was intrigued by how the strong lines on the boat were altered by the water.

A setting sun and slight breeze combined to add glitter to the water, and a passing boat entered the perfect position for this shot.

Rust and old paint are great subjects for photography, and this shot has some of both.
