Ottawa River
My camera has been idle for the last few months while I needed to divert my attention elsewhere. But now that my life is returning closer to normal, I've found the energy to create some photos once again. As it turned out, a good friend organized a small outing just as I was thinking of dusting off my camera. The venue was the Ottawa River between Remic Rapids and the Champlain Bridge. There were six of us that participated, and most of us had not seen one another since last Fall. Remic Rapids is famous for the balanced rock sculptures created each year by artist John Felice Ceprano. Between there and the Champlain Bridge there are interesting river views and vegetation. But the unique aspect of this outing was the sky. This year has been bad for forest fires, and smoke from these blanketed Ottawa. As a result, the evening sun and sky were turned a surreal reddish-orange, quite unlike a normal sunset. While it's terrible for the environment, it certainly made for some interesting photographs.
