Blakeney Rapids

For my final outing of 2021, I joined the RA Photo Club's Nature Group for some shooting at Blakeney Rapids. The rapids are located between Almonte and Packenham, about a 45-minute drive from Ottawa. Blakeney Park provides public access to the rapids. It also offers well-maintained paths and footbridges for casual strolls. Besides about a dozen club photographers, there were individuals and families enjoying walks. I went with a friend and we arrived mid-morning. We weren't in any hurry since the morning was overcast and there wasn't much chance of an interesting dawn. The overcast gave way to wet snow by late morning, by which point many of the others had probably left. The snow really enhanced the outing and we stayed longer than we might otherwise to enjoy it. It was a great way to end the year!
