Shirleys Bay

Ottawa is blessed with many nature trails maintained by the National Capital Commission. One that I've visited many times is the Shirleys Bay area in the western part of the city. This trail offers a mixture of river views, woodland trails, and open fields. Late in April, we are between seasons: the winter snow is gone, but spring growth has barely started. Trails were navigable, but muddy in places. The day was beautiful, with thin clouds and mild temperatures. It was great to be outside and explore with my camera.
