Experimental Farm
The Central Experimental Farm is a fabulous recreational resource for Ottawa residents. What other major city offers a 427-hectare (1,055 acres) working farm within walking distance of the downtown core? While the farm is an active research centre, they have embraced public access. Walking and biking paths criss-cross the farm, barn tours are provided, and they have a beautiful ornamental garden. I wanted to visit the farm with my infrared camera before all the crops were harvested. It was a beautiful Saturday, so the parking lot was packed, but the space is so large that that hardly mattered. I started out walking along the paths through the fields. The farm grows a lot of corn along with various grains. From there I walked past the greenhouses and the timber pile. Lastly, I went looking for shots in the ornamental garden.
