I spent the month continuing to explore different bright field photography ideas. Water acts as a lens that refracts and reverses backgrounds. This is apparent in many of these shots. The first few shots used backgrounds designed to emphasize this property (courtesy Gavin Hoey and Adorama TV). The remainder of the shots used a translucent background that was lit with two or three lights. In some cases, I combined light from behind with light from above. I've also started using frosted glass in addition to clear glass. As you might imagine, alignment is critical and requires many minute adjustments. Unfortunately, even better-quality glassware is imperfectly shaped. Alignment thus becomes a compromise, especially when both the subject and its reflection need to be aligned.
