Ottawa River and Bate Island
I'm fortunate to live within walking distance of the Ottawa River, and I love to walk along the shoreline with a camera. In early April, water levels are often high and flooding can be a concern. It's not unusual for portions of the Ottawa River parkland to be flooded, and that was the case this year. Fortunately, there's enough high ground that flooded areas can be easily bypassed. For this outing, I walked westward from the Tunney's Pasture area towards Westboro Beach. Along the way, I used the Champlain Bridge to access Bate Island. When the water is high and fast-moving, Bate Island is a popular venue for water sports. I was using my infrared camera. I have very little resolution with that camera and limited reach with the lens fitted to it. Nevertheless, I couldn't resist taking a few shots of the sports enthusiasts in action.
