A good friend suggested a group outing to that part of the Ottawa Greenbelt south of Shirley's Bay. I had been to that area a few times before and always found it interesting. It features a mix of woodland, a creek, and some open fields. Part of it merges with the Trans Canada Trail, and part of that trail runs parallel to a rail line. It ended up that there were three of us, and we enjoyed a sunny afternoon exploring the area, followed by some ice cream at a nearby micro creamery.
