Morris Island Conservation Area

Morris Island Conservation Area is about a 50-minute drive west of Ottawa. There are 6 km of trails that overlook the Ottawa River within this 47-hectare site. This was the venue chosen for the 2023 Fall Challenge competition. The Fall Challenge is a friendly Nature competition among RA Photo Club photographers. Participants photograph on the chosen date at the chosen venue(s) and then we see who came away with the best shots. A friend and I carpooled to the site and met up again for a picnic lunch, but otherwise followed our own directional instincts. I brought a couple of lenses but ended up using my 100 - 400 mm lens the whole time. I've grown to really love this lens. We had intermittent sun and cloud, and it was chilly at times. I was thankful for the extra sweater that I brought. The Fall colour was rather muted this year but I found lots of interesting subjects regardless. I appreciate the variety that this venue has to offer. There seems to be something for everyone.
