Limerick Forest
A good friend introduced me to Limerick Forest several years ago and I've been back many times. When she organized another group outing, I was eager to go. This time around I invited another friend to join me who had never been. He and I traveled there together in my car and I showed him around the trails. As it turned out there was only one other participant. After exploring the trails, the four of us enjoyed a late lunch together at a nearby restaurant. Limerick Forest comprises several scattered tracts of land. My usual destination, and the one for this outing, was the area around the Interpretive Centre. This is reached via Limerick Road, near Oxford Station, about 45 minutes south of Ottawa. When I visited the forest this past spring I was using my DSLR and macro lens. This time around I had my new mirrorless camera and a couple of my new lenses. Mostly, I used my 100 - 400 mm lens, which was very handy for capturing a shot of some trumpeter swans. It was also helpful for picking out forest details that I find appealing.
