Ottawa's Greenbelt is a treasure trove of hiking trails. Equipped with parking, they are easy to get to. And they offer a variety of terrain: forests, lakes, bogs, and dunes. One of these features the ruins of an industrial lime kiln. The kiln was built in the early 1900s and was in operation through to about 1960. The trail that passes the kiln ruins is appropriately named the Lime Kiln Trail. The RA Photo Club Nature Group arranged an outing to visit the trail. followed by lunch for those interested at a nearby restaurant. I've photographed the ruins on previous visits, so I concentrated instead on other sights in the area. After a couple of hours exploring the trails with a friend, it was off to lunch with other members of the club.
