Little Italy and Chief William Commanda Bridge

The Urban Group of the RA Photo Club organized a photo walk around Ottawa's Little Italy neighborhood. About 20 club members participated. Ostensibly, this was to view some of the public art in the area. That art is an installation by the School of Photographic Art Ottawa (SPAO). Several club members take courses at SPAO, although I have not to date. The art was very interesting and deserves a return visit to study it more closely. It is very different from the images typically shown at our photo club. I refrained from photographing the art and concentrated instead on other subject matter in the area. After lunch with fellow club members, a friend and I continued to explore. We ended up on the Chief William Commanda Bridge that crosses the Ottawa River. The bridge was originally constructed for train traffic but has been repurposed for recreation. It is an interesting structure in its own right and offers excellent views of the river scenery.
