My first infrared camera was converted to have a 590 nm filter permanently installed. This filter allows the camera to "see" oranges, reds, and infrared light. 590 nm is an amazingly versatile filter choice. It enables the photographer to explore vibrant false-colour interpretations. It can also produce excellent black and white images. Naturally, when I had my current camera converted to full spectrum, I also wanted to keep 590 nm as an option. Including this filter in my purchase was a no-brainer. My first forays with my new IR-capable camera explored options that were new to me: Chrome and 720 nm. Having done that, it was time to try out the 590 nm filter. I returned to familiar ground, the Ottawa river, to confirm that this filter would work as expected.
